TIRTIRIA
A collaborative spatial experience project.
Engaging the audience in sensory perception through closed eyes, Tiritiria is an immersion of light and sound that guides a journey of land provenance and its stories. A curation of differing light volumes, colours and movements, paired with a soundscape, these two humble atmospheric qualities work together to transport the audience within the waiata narrative.
Tiritiria, to plant, till, cultivate. In this narrative, the cicada moves through its lifecycle. It guides the audience through upturning soils, from the past to the present. Alluding to the harm in the human desire for growth and change.
